Autoresponder - Types and Uses
An autoresponder is an email sent to the subscriber (potential customer), immediately after he/she enters his/her email address at the business website.
Many marketers wrongly think email autoresponder is some tool to chase a customer. Though turning the potential customer to a real customer is your goal in setting up an email autoresponder, you need to be extremely careful to not have an excessive sales pitch in your follow up emails.
An autoresponder is an email sent to the subscriber (potential customer), immediately after he/she enters his/her email address at the business website. On confirmation, the visitor gets one or more emails from the business, over a few days or many weeks.
What are The Essential Elements of an Autoresponder?
An autoresponder series often consists of a series of emails, set to be sent to the customer at pre-determined intervals. This way, the marketer can still close the order, even if the visitor has left the site without making a purchase.
First Autoresponder Mail
The first mail of the autoresponder series has a confirmation link, which the receiver has to click to receive further emails. On clicking the confirmation link, the customer is taken to a thank you page, where you again tell in detail about the benefits your customer gets by subscribing to the email series.
Follow Up Autoresponder Mail
The follow up autoresponder mails have some case studies, user experiences or reviews - all connected to the product or service that you sell. There is, however only a low key sales pitch, if any, in the emails.
The sole aim of the autoresponder is to make a sale and repeat the sale over time. But, a marketer must give the appearance that the email is for information only. Minimizing of sales pitch maximizes the chances of closing a sale.
Autoresponder Series
With an email autoresponder series, you engage the minds of your customers, by telling them about how people benefit from your products, how they are created, etc. You don't have to worry about sending emails to your potential customers at regular intervals. The autoresponder works on autopilot and sends out emails at preset intervals.
Occasionally, once in three or four emails, you can also give the customer a 'special discount' that ends on March 31 or on December 24 midnight. These are proven methods for generating sales.
